" Theatre in a Theatre"

This is a "Marie type ballroom with a theatre within a theatre box. Made from a cigar box with added male and female players and a little group of musicians in the corner of the room, the floor and ceiling are also finished in this room. The cutting of the figures was very difficult.

The theatre facade on the inside of this piece is a collage sheet on etsy by Vikimouse. She has several theatre sheets and other collage sheets that are different and priced at only 2.00.

Hail October!!! And Apple Crisp!!

October's the month
When the smallest breeze
Gives us a shower
Of autumn leaves.
Bonfires and pumpkins,
Leaves sailing down -
October is red
And golden and brown."
-
The harvest moon hangs round and high
It dodges clouds high in the sky,
The stars wink down their love and mirth
The Autumn season is giving birth.
Oh, it must be October
The leaves of red bright gold and brown,
To Mother Earth come tumbling down,
The breezy nights the ghostly sights,
The eerie spooky far off sounds
Are signs that it's October.
The pumpkins yellow,. big and round
Are carried by costumed clumsy clowns
It's Halloween - let's celebrate."
- Pearl N. Sorrels, It Must be October
********************
October a wonderful month, such a lovely time of year. The colors are mind numbing, so beautiful, the smell of burning leaves, the children's joyful laughter while they tumble in the piles of gold, red and brown leaves. The apple orchards are waiting for us with their piles of crisp apples , apple donuts and taffy apples. Choose your pumpkins to carve for Halloween. The air is crisp , the sky is blue. the nights are cool.

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it,
and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth
seeking the successive autumns."
- George Eliot

You must not for one instant give up the effort to build new lives for yourselves. Creativity means to push open the heavy, groaning doorway to life. This is not an easy struggle. Indeed, it may be the most difficult task in the world, for opening the door to your own life is, in the end, more difficult than opening the door to the mysteries of the universe.
Daisaku Ikeda

A Tribute to Autumn!!!

Autumn Fires by Robert Louis Stevenson

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!
******************************

Yellow, mellow, ripened days,
Sheltered in a golden coating;
O'er the dreamy, listless haze,
White and dainty cloudlets floating;
Winking at the blushing trees,
And the sombre, furrowed fallow;
Smiling at the airy ease,
Of the southward flying swallow
Sweet and smiling are thy ways,
Beauteous, golden Autumn days.
Will Carleton
*************
Autumn Days.

I saw old Autumn in the misty morn
Stand shadowless like silence, listening
To silence, for no lonely bird would sing
Into his hollow ear from woods forlorn,
Nor lowly hedge nor solitary thorn;--
Shaking his languid locks all dewy bright
With tangled gossamer that fell by night,
Pearling his coronet of golden corn.
Thomas Hood
*****************
Ode - Autumn.

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall.
Johnny Mercer

"Marie" mini theatre "Theatre Majestueuso"

Started with this beautiful collage sheet, separate curtains, sold by Vikimouse on Etsy. made a box on back for depth and stability, added backdrop from a picture of ballroom pictures and a chandelier, added figures from cassis creations , urns with flowers are my add on and the steps also, embellished with gold trim, buttons and pearls.touched up with a Gelly sparkle pen. It stands alone and is about 2.5 inches in depth and 10 inches high. This was a lot of fun to do and will do more of these.

Tutorial for embellishing a collage sheet!!!

Vicki H.
There are a lot of choices for these collage sheets. After you have purchased your collage sheet from the source shown above, print on cardstock and cut out all pieces. Mark with the dull side of your exacto knife and fold the ATC envelope and the little envelope for your thankyou card. Punch hole for tag and proceed with the embellishments. I used a makeup sponge to touch up edges of everything and did a little stamping with a sepia toned ink. add names to your thankyou card and envelope-decorate your tag with ribbon. lace, trims and a charm. Your envelope for your ATC card should be as lovely as what you are putting in it, so that the person that receives it can show it proudly in a beautiful envelope. On the back of this is a place to sign and date. I added touches for Marie's jewels and hair pretties with a gelly sparkle pen. My plan is to store these collage sheets in a zip lock with some wonderful smelling bath powder or candle chips so they will smell as good as they look. I hope you like this idea and can use it for your art.
*****************
The bottom picture is how they will look after they are printed and glued. The other 2 are after my embellishments. i would love to see what you do with these. send me a picture and I will post it.

A commissioned piece "A tribute to Mary"

I was asked to do this piece as a tribute to a fine lady with lots of interests and many, many awards for a lifetime of effort. I enjoyed doing this and even tho I did not know this lady by the time I finished this shrine to her I felt I knew her and much more I liked her a lot, She and her husband raised 6 children, they were active in their community , she was an avid golfer and bowler and bridge player. I was so taken by her smiling face and wonderful caring attitude with her friends and family, I am proud to have been asked to do this for this wonderful woman. Here's to " Mary" I. grieve for your passing. The day after I started this piece, God took Mary Home.
