MICHAEL!! and other thoughts!

I have felt deep sadness for a few days since the passing of Michael Jackson. He was a tortured soul and certainly the most talented artist in his time. A person cannot survive that kind of fame and scrutiny. A very sad tine. Who will be the next King?? Watch what you wish for!!!
...............................

I will miss Billy Mays and his brash delivery about many , many products. I trusted Billy , when he said it would work , I belived him and he never let me down.
............................................
Sad for Farah that fought so valiantly and lost the battle. Like all of us she wanted to live so desperately.
...............................
A tribute to Ed Mc Mahon- shared lots of laughs with Ed and Johnny. I thought he was a great sidekick on the tonite show.He lived a full life and accomplished many things, like the others in this tribute.

GARDEN HEAD TUTORIAL!

OK HERE IS THE LIST OF SUPPLIES:
ONE STYROFOAM WIG HEAD.....GESSO.....WHITE GLUE..... CLAY SAUCER FOR STABILITY......
KNIFE TO CARVE OUT THE CENTER.....COPPER PAINT.....VERDIGRIS FINISH. I USED A PRODUCT CALLED SOPHISTICATED FINISHES- I BELIEVE YOU COULD USE A COPPER OR PAINT OF ANOTHER BRAND AND THIN DOWN SOME ACRYLIC GREEN THAT HAS THAT VERDIGRIS COLOR. A GOOD SPRAY SEALER.
....................
FIRST -CARVE OUT A SPOT FOR YOUR VINES OR FLOWERS , I USED ARTIFICIAL, I DON'T THINK REAL WOULD HOLD UP, JUST ENOUGH TO GLUE IN YOUR VINES.
PAINT HEAD AND SAUCER WITH GESSO 3 COATS-LET DRY IN BETWEEN.
GLUE THE HEAD TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SAUCER WITH TACKY -LET DRY. IMPORTANT TO LET DRY.
PAINT WITH COPPER -DRY AND DO YOUR VERDIGRIS, WATERED AND ALLOW TO DRIP DOWN THE PIECE-SHOWING THRU SOME COPPER. SPRAY SEVERAL TIMES WITH A GOOD ACRYLIC SEALER SPRAY. ADD YOUR VINES-WRAP ENDS WITH FABRIC AND GLUE INTO INDENTION. MINE IS ON THE PORCH AND IT HAS RAINED AND BEEN 95. SO............. GOOD LUCK--YOU CAN GET HEADS ON EBAY OR A BEAUTY SUPPLY HOUSE CHEAP. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR PICTURES IF YOU DO IT.

THE ICE CREAM STORY!!

Do you remember these double cones? When I lived in Ca. you could go to a drugstore out there and get an ice cream cone for a nickel. Maybe you still can. They were not the double cones, I haven't seen those since I was a kid. I want to make ice cream, fresh peach and fresh strawberry. I want to make waffle cones and take them on a picnic with my home made ice cream. Here is a recipe for waffle cones:
Gourmet Waffle Cones
This is our basic recipe for a rich buttery waffle cone.
Yield: About 8 cones

1 whole egg
1 egg white
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup sifted all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. butter, melted and cooled slightly

1. Preheat the WaffleCone Express™. Start with Color Control setting of 2 1/2 to 3, but change as necessary for best results.
2. Beat the egg, egg white and salt in a small bowl with a fork until well blended. Beat in the sugar and beat until sugar is incorporated and the egg has lightened in color slightly, about 1 minute. Beat another 15 seconds to incorporate the flour and remove all lumps. Add the melted butter and stir until well blended.
3. Spoon 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) of batter in the center of the iron. Bake for 1 minute then check for proper color. Cook an additional 5 to 10 seconds if necessary.
4. Quickly remove the waffle from the WaffleCone Express™ onto a clean cloth towel. Use the cloth to help lift and roll the waffle around the cone form. Hold the cone a few seconds to set its shape then place on a wire rack to cool.
...............................
I think you can use a regular waffle iron to make these, What a treet.
......................................
When I was 17 I worked in a restaurant-ice cream parlor, the owner Jack white , made the ice cream with the help of teen age boys, It was a drive in also and served
hamburgers, fries and all the regular things but the ice cream , people came from all around to get this wonderful handmade treat. handpacked and the freshest ingredients. Our crew was taught the right way to make a soda, a sundae a banana split, Cherry cokes and lemon and 2 pinball macines.
This was a going place, a lot like "Happy Days" The ice cream was the best I have ever had. the condiments like nuts and cherries and whipping cream were abundant and all summer the place was packed. We made good tips but my friend and I were night managers and we made $60.00 a week. That was big money back then. Kids were making 50 cents an hour. We were 2 lucky girls. That is the Ice CREAM STORY. Did you ever see a double cone?? Do you have an ice cream story???

Another piece in the KC willis style.

All used supplies for this piece except picture. Garage sales and old curtains, rusted pins and feathers pulled from an old wreath. Hope you like it. Fun to do. However , this was more difficult because i couldn't use things specifically bought for these pieces. The colors are a little off to my eye. But if you care to comment , what do you think?

NEW PROJECT!!! Garden head!

This is a garden head made from a styrofoam wig head. I was pretty proud of my efforts and I have sealed it really well and think it will hold up in the weather. Tell me what you think , I feel that I could do a tutorial on this project.

Well here it is!! Meghann's Zentangles!!

I haven't posted to the blog because I have been very busy with some journal orders and trying to finish up swaps and things that I am behind in. I will post these pictures as soon as I finish the last one.
Then I want to start a new Wall hanging with the KC willis method and this will be a larger one. Fun and hopefully can find some beautiful embellishments for it. I will definitely take pictures of that and a tag book I am working on also. Sorry to have neglected the blog, it is very important to me. Hoping it is to you too.
